How to create content when inspiration isn’t there?
March 25 2026
Creativity on social media takes up a lot of space. It has become the determining factor in a brand’s ability to stand out in a saturated environment. Every day, thousands of posts compete for attention. On Instagram, more than 95 million photos and videos are published every day. It’s not the number of posts you make that matters, but the impact they have.
Creativity is not a coincidence. It relies on strategic thinking, a process of inspiration, and the ability to transform an idea into an engaging experience. So how do you propel a brand forward when ideas don’t come easily?
What is creativity?
Before getting into the heart of the topic, it is important to clarify the definition of creativity on social media. It is much broader than you might think. Indeed, it does not stop at creating an attractive visual for your community or doing something out of the ordinary.
It is also not about reinventing the wheel 100% every time. It is about pushing your imagination further while keeping your brand image in mind. It is about being realistic in your expectations. The creative process relies on identifying an opportunity, a moment of inspiration, and an authentic adaptation of something that already exists.
For example, when a video goes viral, it may seem, at first glance, far removed from your business reality. Yet the creative exercise consists precisely in finding an angle, a connection, or a relevant adaptation that will allow you to integrate it intelligently into your universe. It is not about copying a trend, but interpreting it in a coherent and strategic way.
Content based on real life
Unlimited creativity is not given to everyone. There are many ways to showcase your company without really needing to overthink it. Your followers are not interested in images filled with information like a PowerPoint presentation. They are looking for something real.
In fact, 90% of consumers say they trust content generated by real people more than traditional advertising, and authentic content generates up to 28% more engagement than polished posts.
Your days are filled with events, varied tasks, successes and mistakes, and human interactions. All of these elements can be captured in photos or videos to showcase your brand.
You can also focus on simple educational content. Share a tip related to your field, answer a frequently asked question from a client, or briefly explain a lesser-known aspect of your industry. This type of content does not require spectacular creativity, but it positions your company as a reference and brings real value to your community.
Developing creativity
Many people do not feel creative when faced with all the possibilities available to them. When confronted with so many choices, inspiration can sometimes feel blocked. Yet creativity is not a talent reserved for a few privileged individuals. The question therefore becomes: how do you develop a creative mindset?
The answer is simple. Creativity is developed and practiced. The more content you consume with a critical eye, the more inspired you become. The more you try, the more natural it becomes. It is about experimenting and making mistakes without losing confidence.
A good starting point for improving creativity is simply talking about it with your team. Nothing works better than a brainstorm to generate ideas. Taking a moment to exchange ideas often allows you to see things differently. A discussion can bring out ideas you would never have thought of on your own.
Artificial intelligence
There are many different platforms that allow you to explore and develop your creativity through artificial intelligence. The visual possibilities are practically limitless: styles, atmospheres, concepts, variations. AI becomes a true playground for experimenting with ideas quickly and pushing your own creative limits.
Another interesting aspect is that artificial intelligence can also serve as an idea trigger. It is not limited to producing images. It can help structure a concept, suggest angles, or formulate a message. For example, by describing to ChatGPT a content idea you would like to develop, it can generate text that will serve as the foundation for creating your visual (your prompt).
The BDK tip
Creativity is a process that you are supposed to enjoy. It should not be a constant source of pressure, but rather a space for exploration.
If creating content becomes stressful or unpleasant, go back to the basics. Focus on what is real: your daily life, your projects, your conversations, your learnings.
